James Galligan, Student-Athlete of the Week

Class:
Senior.

Grade-point average:
3.5.

Favorite subject:
Environmental Science.

High-school sport:
Swimming (qualified for the Colorado Class 4A Championships in every event the past season; at state, finished sixth in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 50 freestyle).

What I’ve done lately:
Team has had just three meets, but Galligan  has qualified for state in the 100 breaststroke, and the 50 and 100 freestyles).

Why I attend Mullen:
I attend Mullen for the good academics and athletic reputation -- that was the big thing that led me to go to Mullen. And the major thing was the smaller class sizes. I felt it was really important  to my learning..

The best thing about my sport:
It’s the community of people it comes with, I feel, especially at Mullen. It’s a smaller group. Everyone is so nice and it’s just a great group of guys.

Planned career:
Has signed to swim at Chapman University in Orange, Calif; undecided on major.

In my immediate future:
I can’t wait to get to Chapman to swim and start the collegiate level, but I would like to get on the podium, the top three, in my swim events at state (in May). That’s my major goal right now.
